Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S Lawnmower wont stay running, briggs and stratton, carburator

Question
I have a 3.5hp Briggs and Stratton lawnmower that starts fine and stalls after about 30 seconds.  I have cleaned the gas tank and replaced with new gas.  I have replaced the spark plug and the air filter and I have cleaned the carburator.  I am stuck.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Peter

Answer
Hi Peter,

To test for a lack of fuel flow, squirt fuel or starting fluid into the carb intake and see if you can keep it running.  If so, I would suspect dirt, debris or gummed fuel in the carb.  You would need to disassemble it, clean all the small openings and blow it out with compressed air.

Let me know how you make out.
