Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 4 HP Briggs & Stratton mower wont start, briggs stratton engine, briggs stratton

I have a Yard Machines lawn mower with a 4 HP Briggs & Stratton engine....I was mowing with it yesterday 4-18-04, 2nd time this year...And it just stopped...It started up a few times after it died but it would only run a few seconds and die....Now it won't start at all....I checked to see if it had spark and it does...I took the air filter off and it was pretty dirty so I cleaned it and put it back on, still nothing..dropped a few drops of gas down the carb...still won't start

James, if you added the gas and you have spark.....it will be a sheared fly wheel key or worse yet major damage internal. Remove the spark plug, place your thumb over the hole and have someone pull the cord to d\see if you have compression,,,if so "go for the key"  let me know what happens /???   Bob
