Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): wedd eater engine, metal coil, happy at home

i have a weed eater engine and the pull start has come out of it it doesn't recoil in i took the casing off and there was a long metal coil type thing that looked out of place i was wondering if you knew how to get it back how it is supposed to be  thank you

It sounds to me like you have a runaway.  The pull start is ready to get out and see the world.  He isn't happy at home anymore so he doesn't want to come back.  I would venture to guess that the metal coil type thing that you are talking about is probably the poor little pull starts broken heart.  Someone must have been really been mean to him for him to feel like that.  Yeah I am talking about you Mr. Temper.  If you had not jerked him around so hard he would still be with us wouldn't he?  The only suggestion I have is to go get yourself another weed eater.  That pull start will never try to help you again.  You burned him for the last time!
