Snowmobile Repair: 1989 polaris 340 Sprint, polaris sleds, polaris 340

Question
I have a 89 polaris 340 sprint with dual carbs the sled will start and idle alright but when you hit the throttle its sluggish and you have to feather the throttle for it to rev up both of the air inlet screws are one full turn out from snug and i have completely cleaned both carbs numerous times also the carbs do not have air cleaners does that make a difference?  What am i overlooking and is there anything i could do to make it run better and have a better throttle response..  thanks...

Answer
Running without an air cleaner could be a problem. It could be getting too much air.  Polaris sleds are genraly realy slugish on low end anyways.  I have always owned Polaris and found the only way to deal with this problem is either pipes or different clutch wieghts.
