Snowmobile Repair: 1980 ski-doo citation, ski doo, quality oil

Question
I currently own a ski-doo citation 4500. The problem is when running it on slow idle, it seems to run on one cylinder until i push the throttle. What could cause this?

Answer
Hello Albert,

It sounds like your Ski-Doo is doing what many older sleds develop, which is fouling one spark plug at idle. The best solution to this is 2 new NGK BR8EYA spark plugs, and good quality oil, such as Amsoil, Maxima, or Klotz. Also, you may want to try turning the idle mixture screw in (clockwise) about 1/4 of a turn. The idle screw is located on the lower center of the carb, and is small. It goes into the carb at an angle, it is also brass in color. Hope this helps you. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck with the sled! --Arcticatman
