Snowmobile Repair: Kawasaki carbs, honda 250r, search ebay

Question
Will a carb off a 1979 Kawasaki drifter 340 work on a Honda 250R 2-stroke engine?

Answer
Hello Jeremy,

It sure will, but you'll need to do a few modifications to the Mikuni VM32 carburetor from the Drifer. To start, the jets in the carb now are made for cold weather and will destroy the dirt bike. So, you'll need to install a #180 MAIN jet and a #60 SLOW jet. They run about $25.00 for both. If the jets run too lean or rich, just go higher or lower as necessary. If the carb won't fit onto the mounting flange, you'll also need to purchase a different flange, availible through www.denniskirk.com or possibly www.mfgsupply.com  .  Your best bet would be to take a look at Ebay, they have the correct carbs for your Honda http://search.ebay.com/honda-250R-carb_W0QQsofocusZbsQQsbrftogZ1QQsojsZ1QQfromZR...  .  Let me know if you have any other questions at all, and I will be glad to help. Good luck with the project! --Arcticatman
