Snowmobile Repair: carburator, cold weather, atv

Question
I have a 1986 yamaha three wheele atv. In the summer the bike works great.but when the cold weather comes it is very hard to start. Sometimes you have to pour gas into the carburator to get it to run.I was told that the trottle slide was warn and was sticking, could this be my problem?

Answer
It could be a number of problems. If your slide was sticking you would feel it in the throttle. But what it sounds like to me is that you just need to clean out the carb and make sure your running fresh gas in it, because in the cold weather they are a little more touchy.
