Steering Column Repair: 1994 chevy ignition, ignition lock replacement, ignition switch replacement

Hi Douglas, I have a 1994 Chevy 1500 diesel. I went out this morning to start it and found that someone broke in and tried to drill out the ignition. How can I get the old ignition switch out and install a new one? I took the insurance off a week ago to park it for the winter so I would like to do this as cheap as possible.

Hi Greg:

You don't say if it's tilt or non-tilt, but regardless, the procedure to replace the ignition lock cylinder is almost identical.
