Steering Column Repair: installing steering column in a 1997 mercury sable, mercury sable, steering column

I HAVE JUST INSTALLED A STEERING COLUMN IN MY 97 MERCURY SABLE AND NEED TO KNOW HOW TO COMPLETELY DEACTIVATE THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM OR HOW TO GET THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM TO RECOGNIZE THE TRANSPONDER KEY.

Hi Stephen:
The bad news is...you can't.  The transponder needs to be a new one and then the dealer (or anyone with an NGS scanner)has to program that to the vehicle and then reprogram the keys to the new transponder.  Ford has made it VERY difficult, but then the others have all followed since then.
