Steering Column Repair: turn signal actuator, buick electra 225, turn signal switch

Question
Hi I have a 77 Buick Electra 225 limited(without cornering lights). My turn signal lever is hanging out of the side of the steering column. When I took the steering wheel off, i found that the metal bracket that holds the lever in place is broken in half. The bracket connects the turn signal switch to the lever and it's sliver in color. It has one bolt that is attaches it to the column, so that it can swivel. I think it's called a turn signal actuator, but I'm not sure. I want to know if you can tell me where to locate this piece and what it's called. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jarome:
The part you are describing is called exactly what you stated. (Turn signal actuator or pivot).  We do not have that part & I do not know where you may find one.  The same part was used in many GM models over the early years between 1969 & 1979.  When they went to wipers in the column, the wiper switch incorporated that pivot.  My only suggestion would be to find another old GM column, & strip it to use it.

Good luck
Doug
