Steering Column Repair: 1991 f150 shift tube, tilt wheel, pot metal

Question
The shift tube made of pot metal or aluminum or(?) snapped on my ford f150
with a/t and tilt wheel.  Ford says they don't have them anymore.  Where can I
reliably get one or can the one i have be brazed.  The inner shaft is steel and
just fine, since all the stress is mostly there could i get away with a good braze
job?

Answer
Hi Gary:

The shift tube  and shaft are a very popular repair.  My company does this job often and we stock all of the parts you need.  You will have to replace both the tube and the shaft...the shaft bends slightly which is what causes the outer tube to snap.  These are not expensive and the replacement is fairly easy.

Check out our website, these pages and the parts I am referring to.
