Steering Column Repair: Steering Wheel, alignment specialist, pitman arm

Question
I have a 1991 Chevy Suburban 4 wheel drive. I hit a metal curb drain with the rhs front wheel. Now the steering wheel is off center almost 1/4 of circle. Nothing is broken, alignment is good ,truck tracks and steers good. Took off steering wheel and everything looks good-no broken or stripped splines also pitman arm is fine as is steering box etc. Cannot reposition steering wheel do to horn button and lock plate. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time. Paul Harvey

Answer
Hello Paul,
If your steering wheel is off center, the front end is not properly aligned. There is nothing in the column that will affect steering angle in relation to the tire direction. The advice I would give is to take it to a reputable alignment specialist and have them look it over. Steering wheel position is the first check by a trained technician.
Have a great day!
