Steering Column Repair: 1995 Corvette Steering Column & Ignition Switch, corvette lt, 2 nuts

Question
I have a 1995 Corvette LT-1 with 6 spd tranmsission. I just got the car back from a body shop. Now when I try to start the car the only way it starts is if I pull the steering wheel and column down to the lower left and then turn the key. If I just leave the steering wheel in the normal position and put the key in the ignition switch it turns freely without engaging anything. To turn the car off I have to pull the steering wheel down to the lower left then turn the key to the off position to get it released from the switch. Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Answer
Hello Carl,
I don't know if the body shop did repairs or just touch-up work on your Vette. If something was repaired and isn't working correctly, please let them know asap. Most reputable repair facilities will correct the mistake at no extra cost (unless it's a problem that was unknown at the time due to collisions). If thats not the case you could try to loosen the 2 nuts holding the column and adjusting the whole column itself one way or the other.
Other than that, the only other thing I can think of is worn switch mechanisms.
Hope that helps.
Have a great day!
