Steering Column Repair: 1998 Chevy Blazer Steering Noise, chevy blazer, intermediate shaft

Question
Sometimes when backing up to left side in parking lot, kind of grinding noise comes from the left had front side.
Also when steering turned left and RHS suspension jounce a "crak" sound comes for a second on RHS and then goes away.
I greased all the nipples two months back.
What is the reason and solution to this problem?
Please advise.

Answer
Hello Harman,
The intermediate shaft is the culprit. This is a common problem with this model year. A temporary fix is to disassemble the intermediate shaft and add grease. That will work until the grease works it way back out. That may be a week, a month, or quite possibly a long while. The long term fix is to replave the intermediate shaft with an updated version that allows you to grease it on a regular basis.
Hope that helps.
Have a great day!
