Steering Column Repair: Ignition, dodge intrepid, radio works

Question
I have a 1994 Dodge Intrepid. Some times the car will start fine and other times the key will turn so all the lights come on and the radio works but when I turn it to the start position it does nothing, it doesn't even make a sound like it wants to start. My husband changed the ignition switch and it didn't make a difference.

My son had the same problem with his 1995 Intrepid. Next time it won't start, try tapping a few times on the starter with a wrench or small hammer. It's possible the solenoid contact is worn to the point it isn't making a good electrical connection. It was time to replace the starter for my son. I'm betting this is the same problem you are experiencing.
