Steering Column Repair: 94 chevy silverado, chevy silverado, stock shifter

Question
I purchased a billet column shift lever for my pick up and wanted to know how to remove the stock shifter.  There is a pin holding it on,  if removed does it need to be replaced with new?

Hi,

Take an ice pick awl at bottom side of pin and tap with hammer. The pin will come out. Gently pull the lever out. Insert new lever and use awl to line up the hole. Installed properly you will find you need to pull lever back because it is under spring tention. Line up your pin by wiggling shifter. Tap pin in and you are good to go!
