Subaru Repair: 1990 Legacy axles :/, roll pins, stub shaft

Question
Hi.
I am a 'fellow' expert here:
http://www.allexperts.com/ep/835-62518/Audio-Systems/Jerry-Mael.htm
I need to replace both front drive axle assemblies on my gals '90 AWD Legacy 5-speed wagon (16v 2.2L). Any pointers would be appreciated along with which size axle nut socket I may need to rent/borrow and should I replace the struts during this procedure.
I am aware of a pin on each of the trans-axle outputs which needs removed?
Should I reuse this pin or get new ones for re-assembly?
I have successfully rebuilt a few Volkswagon axles/CV's but those all had Allen head bolts holding both sides.

Thanks in advance for any help and your time!
Cheers.

Answer
Hey Jerry,

The axle nut socket is a 32mm,  The roll pins should really be replaced.

The axle is held to a "stub shaft" coming out of the transmission via the roll pins and the seals are not disturbed, and really neither are the struts.

Just be very careful about the parts you use the new axle market is flooded with poor quality "new" Chinese built axles, that are just plain bad out of the box (vibration).,
