Subaru Repair: fuses and circuits, amp fuse, fuse panel

Question
I own a 2.5l Outback.  The front cigarette lighter stop working some time ago.  Inconveniently I have been using the rear lighter.  This to has stop functioning.  The 20 amp fuse in slot 4 of the fuse panel is good and the remote control mirrors still work.  Before I start to dismantle the car and follow the wire, could you tell me if the line is fused somewhere other than in the fuse panel.  I have removed the heater section of the lighter and have no power at the sockets.  If you could give me any ideas I would really appreciate it and so would my kids.  Thanks

Answer
A lot of times the big nut on the back of the socket loosens up.

If the cigar/mirror fuse is ok it's possible that the connector behind the dash has melted and no longer providing a good connection.

I would always suggest checking every fuse with a test light.

Since you didn't mention what year its hard to be real specific.

But it is a common problem for the 1996 to 1999 and we have seen a few 2000 to 2004 act up as well.
