Subaru Repair: 2000 subaru AC, receiver dryer, sec delay

Question
Hi, When the ac is turned on , there is a 30 sec delay in activation. While on, the performance is good yet it is cycled off most of the time. With a gauge set installed the low side is reading low (10-15 psi) while the high side is reading nornal 250psi. When I add R134a to the system the low side remains low while the high side increases to excess. No noticeable leaks in the system. Is there any way of determining if this is a problem with the receiver dryer, or the expansion valve?  Thankx, BTraft

Answer
Hello Brent,

Ok, The ambient temperature is an important tool to use when trying to diagnose your AC .If the high side pressure is higher than normal on a cold day we may have an expansion valve problem. But the low side readings must also be taken into account. Also the amount of moisture in the system will greatly affect the performance. What I would suggest is a simple evacuate and recharge. The Ac system needs periodic maintenance to perform well.
