Subaru Repair: 01 Forester Reliability, headgaskets, research tool

I'm hearing lots of issues with 2001 headgaskets, bearings, clutchs... I'm looking at a clean 01 Forester 75k should I be scared off by all these issues, I need a realiable car and a known prob. with the gasket makes me nervous.

All of those things can happen to a Subaru but also to any car out there.If you use the Internet as your research tool you will find lots of negative information.But you have to remember that we will take the time to post something negative out of frustration and a way to vent it but we don't often take the time to share the positive experiences we may be having with our car.The best advice i can give you is to have the vehicle inspected by someone who knows Subaru.The headgaskets should be covered for 100k if the coolant conditioner recall/campaign has been performed.Hope that helps
