Subaru Repair: 94subaru loyale engine racing, throttle position sensor, symtom

Question
i recently acquired a 94 loyale wagon, it had been sitting for awhile but started and ran fine for 2 weeks. after that whenever i start the car the engine revs up into the 3-4,000 rpm range. i can not make it slow down. if i put the car in gear it will idle at 35-40 mph. the check engine light is on so i will take it to advance auto and have them check the codes but i was wondering if you might have any ideas. thanks

Answer
Start With checking the T.P.S. voltage .A good possibility is that the TPS(Throttle position sensor) is a out of range. That is a some what of a common problem  i have also seen a few harness issues cause the same symtom.Either way basically, if the ECM doesn't know the proper TPS voltage it wont know at what % level to set the ISC(idle speed control).Hope that helps
