Subaru Repair: Subaru Head Gasket, subaru head gasket, jdm motors

The cost to have a head gasket replaced, if not the head itself is cost prohibitive. I can have a JDM long block deliverd for $1200.  1996 Outback 2.5. What is your opinion on these engines and is the labor worth it?

I have very little experience with JDM motors, but the experiences we have had here, have all been good. Hold on to your old motor, because some parts, like the intake and coils may not transfer over. Also, the one motor we used had parts that did transfer, but we didn't need. So, the customer held onto them and may have saved some money in future repair costs. Good luck. Would love to hear how things turn out.
