Subaru Repair: Subaru legacy rs check engine light problem, subaru legacy, trouble code

Hi i have a 96 subaru legacy rs. I have been getting the check engine for about a week now. After having driving around for half an hour or more the light turns on. And when i accelerate there isnt much of a boost. Even even if put my foot down all the way. I can hear the turbo spinning but there isnt much boost going on. Normally when i go over 3000rpm the primary turbo kicks in and builds up speed very quickly. But when the engine light comes in it is very hard to go over 5000rpm and it is slower. Please help me out. thank you

Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with turbos. But, if you can get someone to put a scan tool on your car and find out what trouble code is being set when the check engine light comes on, I bet we can make a good guess. Any Advance Auto or Autozone should be able to to a code check for free, and then if you get back to me with the code we will try to get to the bottom of your problem. Z
