Subaru Repair: Subaru fuel system, posibilities, fuel injector

Question
My 1998 Outback (2.5L engine)  hesitates, and gets poor milage. the check engine light has come on and the code reads Cylinder 4 misfire. I have replaced the plugs w/ dealer spec. as the plug wires, fuel filter, air cleaner, pvc etc..  Same problem, same code. My car has 115,000 miles on it. The dealer mechanic recommended replacing the #4 fuel injector, as it is probably faulty. I just took out the #4 spark plug, and it seems ok, maybe a little dirty, but not fouled, no oil either. Please help me.

Answer
Hello Adam,

Without looking at it, there could be many posibilities. Could be a bad fuel injector, or even a bad coil. I would lean more towards the coil, as I have seen more of them go bad than injectors. I hope this helps.
