Suzuki Repair: Rear Bushing removal, model lt, 4 wheeler

Hi, I have a 1999 suzuki 4 wheeler model LT-F160X I purchased for my foster grandson. The rear bushing has deteriorated and it is currently non functional. I have ordered new bushings and bearings but I have been unable to remove the axel from the casing. I've loosened the nuts on both sides and I have free movement but I cannot figure out where to go from here. I'm assuming that the axel is in two pieces and connects somewhere inside the casing but I can't figure out how to completely take it apart to replace the worn out bushing. I just stumbled across this site by accident. I am pretty much an amateur at repair but being a single grandpa on a fixed income I don't think I can afford a shop repair. I'd appreciate any help you can provide.

You are indeed right that the axle is secured within the center.  If you're going to be doing stuff at this level, get a service manual.  I've been doing this way over 30 years, and wouldn't want not to have a manual available.
Explanations over the net without a common technical language doesn't work well.  Really ... Get a manual.  You'll then have access to good diagrams and drawings, and most important, info on how to re-assemble correctly.
