Towing Issues: tow yard wants pink slip to car, tow yard, summerlin las vegas

Question
My sons car was towed. He did not get it out because he did not have the money nor does he want the car because it is not worth anything. The tow yard is now wanting the pink slip on it. Does he have to give it to pay for fees or something? The tow took place three months ago in Summerlin, Las Vegas in his apartment complex.

Answer
as the registered vehicle owner, he is responsible for towing and storage fees.

Yes that means he can surrender the title (pink slip) and in some cases the charges will be dropped. In other cases he gives up the title and pays some of the towing fee.

Yes in some cases and states the tow company can file a lien against the vehicle and then they get legal possession of the vehicle and can sell it.

Each state has different rules and even tow company policies vary.

There are some laws in Nevada which regulate towing and spell out the lien laws but darn it if I can find them again (had another computer melt down)
