Towing Issues: My car got impounded please help, valley police department, tow fees

Question
My car got impounded yesterday for no proof of insurance, no proof of registration, and and "illegal inspection tag". The police officer impounded my car after I had just bought it recently. I just took care of the insurance on the car so it is now insured, but now I need to go get it registered. The towing company told me the Sunset Valley Police Department has a hold on my vehicle, what does that mean? What kind of charges am I looking at having to pay for? and how much is it to hold a car per day.

Answer
I am sorry that you got towed, and I will try to explain some of your question...

In basic sense the "HOLD" can mean many things but in your case it most likely means that you will have to get it licensed and insured. I know that the inspection sticker means it goes to a shop to get checked out and all that.

Now as to the police hold, in some cases you have to prove to the police department that its all been corrected before they will issue a paper that you take to the tow company which says you are now able to legally take possession and drive the vehicle.

AFTER YOU PAY the tow bill and storage fees.

Now as to the charges you asked about, I really can not answer that as I do not know each tow companies towing and storage rates across the United States let alone all the ones here in my town.

BUT Texas has a great place to check out what the tow companies "POSTED RATES" are.

If you will do a search online for " TDLR " you can find a section there about towing. Then you are able to look in your town or by tow company name and find out the posted rates of what they charge...

Remember those are maximum rates allowed for the services provided but do not take that as the total price. There are tow fees, administrative fees, storage fees, and all that which add up to a total which increased each day.
