Towing Issues: UNAUTHORIZED TOWING, towing company, vehicle owner

Question
Can a Towing company tow a car that broke, without the authorization of the owner.  My child daughter of legal age drove my car.  She has friends in there.  One of the friends is a child of a member of the towing company.  The member(friend's mom) called her towing services and towed the car to their address without permission from me the owner of the car.  I was not consulted if I authorized the towing, not giving me the chance to decide to get another towing company to tow my car.

Requested a copy of the receipt to verify where it got towed and how it happened, but the member(friend's mother) is not cooperating.  What can I do to get the receipt.

Answer
well you should get a receipt for the towing fees, if there were any money paid out for the services.

But if they are a provider for a motor club and it was towed as a motor club tow, then you will not get a receipt. In most cases there are no receipts given for motor club tows, as there are no monies being exchanged between the member (vehicle owner) and the service provider.

Now as to towing your car without permission, well that is one of those things, where sometimes the need requires fast action. Blocking traffic is not good, and they need to get people and the vehicle to safety fast.

I really have no good answers here, as there is a lot of information which is missing and I can not guess real good this early in the morning as to what happened in a place where I was not there and did not see what the other factors were.

Sorry, but I hope this helps
