Towing Issues: Towed from my lot., storage fees, vehicle owner

Question
I recently had an unregistered van with no tag towed off my lot. It sat for about 3 months and I repeatedly asked it to be dealt with. The person that owns the titled is saying they will sue me to pay for the fees. I had checked with local law enforcement and they said if it was on mt lot then i can have it towed and the other party is responsible for getting it out of impound. The car sat over 3/4 in my lot and the rest in my neighbors drive where this person is "staying". Just doulble checking I am not resposible.

Answer
the only issue I know of is the "shared part" of where the vehicle was sitting...

Its like the tree which overhangs the fence. The person in charge of the property can trim or remove what ever is overhanging.

Now if the vehicle is towed, the vehicle owner is responsible for any and all towing and storage fees. But then again, if it was to go to court, you might be responsible for some, all or none of the amount.

That being said, the "responsible part" would be to put a note on the vehicle warning it is going to be towed after a certain date.
It is trespassing on your property from what you have said and if the local police say it can be towed then it can.

BUT, remember that the officer saying it can be towed, is just talk and the only one who would determine if it was towed legally or illegally would be a judge in the court case which is sure to happen in this case.

Try the nice civil method first, and document everything. Take pictures, keep copies of warning and such. That way if you go to court you will have evidence and should win easy.
