Towing Issues: my vehicle was towed and I was arrested., houston police department, tow company

Question
My vehicle was towed on June 16, 2009 and I wasn't given any info as to where my car was towed to. At the time my car towed i had paper license plates in the window because i just bought the car like a couple of weeks prior to being arrested. when I called the Houston Police Dept. no one could tell me what became of my car. I still have the title to my vehicle. What should I do?

Answer
if I understand this correctly you were arrested by the police and your vehicle was towed.

Now if you called the Houston police department I am thinking that you were arrested by the Houston Police Department and that is why you called them. But if some other department was involved then it might of been handled by them.

Now as to the title, it will be needed to establish ownership of the vehicle, but if you do lose the vehicle due it being sold at a lien sale by the tow company under the law, then the title will be useless as the State of Texas will issue paperwork which overrides your title.

Now I hope that you have found the vehicle, but given the fact that you recently purchased the vehicle, then DMV might not have received or updated the ownership records. What that means is that the required notification letters you are supposed to receive went to the prior owner.

Sorry to be the bringer of possible bad news.
