Towing Issues: Maximum Car Storage Fee, legal paperwork, storage fee

Question
My Car was towed after I was pulled over for not signaling a left turn.  To my surprise I found out my registration was suspended for an unpaid ticket in another state.  My car was towed and impounded.  I had a business trip I had to go on the next day so I was unable to pick up my car for about 1 month.  The storage fee is now over $1000.00.  I have heard that there’s a maximum storage fee that can be charged in New York State (Buffalo) is that correct ?

Answer
as far as I know there is "NO MAXIMUM" on storage fees. As long as the vehicle is taking up space in the tow yard then it collects storage charges. Now when the tow company files a lien and get the legal paperwork to dispose of the vehicle after the lien sale then storage stops.

BUT they can still come after you for towing and storage fees owed.

I could not find any law for New York which specifies the maximum towing and storage fees. But then they do create new laws or propose new laws which do not become laws. And not everything is easy to find online.
For some reason some towing laws are not listed as towing oriented so it becomes a battle to find them.
