Towing Issues: unlawfull towing, local police department, tow companies

Question
i was parked in a private lot with one sign in a entrance i did not use that said parking for that patic7ular adress. I went into one of the stores and then left and walked into adjacent lot to a rite aid drugsti=ore, Upon returning  I discovered my vehicle was towed . I was told to have cash or certified check to get it back. I would not have left my vehicle there if I knew i was going to get towed. Is this legal. There was signage on all entrances, and know ordinance regulations or tow companies phone number.

Answer
I don't quite understand your question correctly, you stated "parked in a private lot with one sign in a entrance i did not use that said parking for that patic7ular adress" then stated "There was signage on all entrances" which entrance did you use? Is this a shared parking lot with reserved parking spaces for each business or a reserved parking lot for one business.  If this is a situation where parking comes at a premium and is reserved parking lot, once you leave their property you are no longer considered an active customer and your vehicle will be towed. Think of it this way, if you were the owner of the store and watched someone park their vehicle in your lot and walk across the street to another business, how would you feel? Especially if potential customers were trying to find parking and couldn't because your vehicle was there. Just a business owner's point of view. Now is it legal? Signs were in place warning of parking enforcement, so you were warned but I can't help any further because more information is needed. You can check yourself by contacting the local police department but some cities don't require tow company information on signage. Since you didn't mention the town, city, county or state I can't help with regulations Good luck
