Towing Issues: Towing Ford Ranger Unibody w/o bending body, tow hitches, snow plows

Question
I was told that drilling 4 holes into the Ranger bumper is unreliable. So I went to a trailor/hitch/welding shop. They said they would bolt plates on each side of the frames(2 frames so 4 plates) then from the plates the steel would extend out under the bumper to a crossmember so then the tow bar(adjustable) can bolt to the crossmember.

Does this sound like a sound construction? Will this bend the unibody?

Answer
All Ford Rangers I have seen here in the US have full length frames and not unibodies. Also If I'm understanding the question correctly, the shop is fabricating drop down brackets for the tow bar which will be bolted to the frame. As long as the design, materials and hardware used are strong enough for your application I don't foresee any problems. Most truck bumpers, tow hitches and snow plows are mounted in the same manner.
