Towing Issues: Illegal Tow?, towing companies, towing company

Question
Last night my husband and I were driving home in a winter storm in Kentucky. Our apartment is at the top of a hill which we could not make it up. We parked our cars at a business at the bottom that was closed and had no signs regarding parking. When we went to get them today the businesses were again closed and someone said they thought they were towed. We called the police; they had nothing reported. We started calling towing companies and driving around to see if our vehicles were there. We found them in a lot in town. When we called their 24 hour service line, they said it would be Monday before we could get them out? Are there any problems with the way the vehicle was towed?? The police not being notified? Or the towing company not allowing us to get our vehicles out? Thank you so much for your help!

Answer
Yes, there should be an issue here. It depends on who authorized the tow. If the owner of the property had the vehicle towed, they do have that right. The laws in Kentucky as for private property impound. Some cities actually have requirements it depends on where you are. But they should have notified the police.
