Towing Issues: car towed, leasing office, dummy number

Question
QUESTION: hi my question is the towing company posted a towing sticker on my car on dec 1 and said it would be towed on dec 2 i would like to know 1. do the towing company suppose post an exact time on the stickers and since i just bought my car and put my old tag on it can it still be towed 2. what is the legal time frame a towing company suppose to give you before towing it?

ANSWER: I can't answer that without some more information. What state and city are you in? Was it on private property or was it a Police Impound? What do you mean by exact time? Why was an old tag on the vehicle and was it registered to the vehicle? If it was on private property is there a complex manager or HOA?

QUESTION: i had purchased it from a coworker who sold it to me november 31 and now i called the leasing office and they told me that the miramar police department had it towed. i called the miramar police department and they said they dont tow cars unless it was called in and they advised me to call the towing company called all county towing in hollywood fl and they told me that my apartment complex has a lot monitoring company that manages the parking lot. the number they gave turned out to be an automated number which i think is a dummy number that the made just my opinion. so i notified my leasing and told them that the towing company said that they have a lot montoring company that deals with the parking lot and the manager of the complex told me that they do not have one that the leasing office monitors the parking lot themselves. now my question is does the manager has to sign agreement stating that the towing company has the right to take it and 2. when i was calling about the car why wasnt the agreement giving to me and 3 who can i handle for this because im getting the run around and different stories about who manages what.

Answer
Florida has very specific laws when it comes to towing. They have an excellent web site that you can research the state laws. You can also google "predatory towing" in your state and there are several web sites dedicated to handling these types of problems. They even have attorney referral links on the web site.
