Towing Issues: Car was towed from my own parking spot, towing company, vancouver canada

Question
Hi there,

I am in Vancouver Canada. Today we parked our rental car at our parking spot but while we are leaving to somewhere at night we
realized our car had been towed and someone else car is now parking at our spot. Seems like someone thought that's their parking spot and they had towed our car.

We went to get our car back from towing company and paid for the 100 dollars fine. here is the question, what kind of legal action can we take to get our loss reimbursed? we had called the towing company to ask them about who towed our car, but they refused to give us any information of their customer due to the privacy. We can't even tow the unauthorized vehicle away from our parking spot because the towing company said they can't tow a vehicle from the same spot twice or something like that. Now it's perfect, we have to pay to park outside and also paid for that 100 dollars fine for towing service. Please advise what kind of legal action we can take.

Thanks

Answer
I don't know much about Canadian laws. It would seem that whoever had you vehicle towed actually illegally had your vehicle towed or stole your vehicle. I would contact the property owner and ask them and send a request in writing to the towing company and advise them that you want to see the signed towing authorization for the removal of your vehicle.
