Towing Issues: car got impounded in mesa AZ, tow yard, roommate

my roommate took my car without my permission and she didn't have a licence and the cops impounded it for 30 day's in mesa AZ. what are my rights and options? i definitely, did not give her permission because it didn't have insurance and it has been 50 days since it happened , when i went to pick up the car i had a friend with me because my license is suspended , so i let the insurance lapse, but i for got to do the thing with the registration, but regardless i did not give my permission and when i went to pick it up the tow yard would give it to me and the next day the cops put a 30 day hold. and i was told that it is some ungodly per day fee and i sooo don't have the money so now it has been 50 days . so please help me get my car back!! i would appreciate any info you can give me , even if it is just let the car go. it's only worth 6,000 but that is allot of money to me. but either way i have got to do something even if it is just letting go. thanks for your time!  Wendy

Wendy, I am sorry but I have no idea how to solve this issue other than you to get insurance and to get a valid license. Then you can work on getting the vehicle out. BUT YES, the fees for storage will continue until the vehicle is paid for and removed or it is sold at auction for being abandoned in the tow yard by the owner.

And when that happens the owner will generally get the balance owed verses what it sold for, turned over to a collection agency for payment.


I wish I had better answers, but it sounds like you are in a hard place and beside the rock.  
No family members who can help you with the money part of this, as the faster you get it out the cheaper it will be.
