Towing Issues: Parkingq, tag numbers, california code

Hi, I'm the Manager for a commercial property in Los Angeles, I have a large lot and people park on my lot, I have sings posted on the entrance of the lot and I have people still park on my lot, at night time when is time to leave I have no idea whose car it is they are parked since the morning, can I have this cars tow away, I am tired of this people continue to park on my lot, please help, what can I do, does the 96 hour rule apply, this is close to the loading dock and trucks need to come in and out an can not wait the 96 hours sometimes not even one hour.

You can access the california code on the web through DMV. It will provide you with all of the regulations for towing. If you own the property and you have the proper signs posted you can have the vehicles towed. You need to make sure you are within the requirements for your state because you can be held liable if you do not meet the requirements. I would consider posting notices on all of the vehicles informing them they will be towed. Take photographs and keep a description of the vehicles including tag numbers. Then just go from there. If they are blocking access the PD needs to be notified.
