Towing Issues: Towed From lot At owners expense, cadillac cts, better business bureau

Question
I live in Denton, Texas and last night I was towed from a parking lot that Friends and I have been parking in for 4 years and have never been towed from. The lot is behind a barber shop that was closed at the time. I drive a cadillac CTS and it was the only car out of just a few even parked in the lot that was towed. The towing company said I did not have permission to park there and the owner called in which I know is not true. At first they refused to let me get my car out and after a girl went and talked to them the said ok. They charger $175 and it could not have been there for more than an hour or 2. If the owner did not call in to have my car towed can they legally just pick and choose cars to tow out of a lot? If not what can I do?

Answer
A towing company must have a signed towing authorization to tow a vehicle. If they claim that nthe owner c.alled to have it towed I would ask to see the towing ticket and I would contact the business and ask if they had it towed. They have to release the car if you pay the towing fees and storage and they know that. It doesn't matter with most towing companies they charge for towing and a days storage from the time it is towed in. I would report both businesses to the better business bureau. There may also be a complaint form you can file in the state of Texas.
