QUESTION: I am loosing my mind right now. My car was towed from my residence PG county Maryland. When I got to the lot at Fast Lane towing to pick up my car it was vandalized. They took everything. About 6000 dollars worth of equipment and parts on my car. My question is this Tow company liable for the damage? If so were do I start with filling a claim. The owner was out of town and I am supposed to meet with him tomorrow regarding the issue.

QUESTION: My vehicle was towed because I parked outside of my residence facing opposite direction of the flow of traffic. I assumed that it didnt matter what direction i was facing as long as I had the proper permit. It was towed friday night (09 Oct 09) between 1000pm and 1200am. I went to go pick it up saturday approximatly 9am on the 10th.

ANSWER: If they have a state law or local ordinance prohibiting parking which faces traffic then I guess the police had the vehicle impounded. The towing company may say they are not responsible for thefts but all towing companies are required to carry garage keepers insurance. I would ask to see who authorized the tow and if they completed an inventory of the vehicle. That would tell you if they noted the items in the vehicle prior to or when the vehicle was towed.

QUESTION: Thank you for the speedy responses.....
I know exactly who had it towed he is the president of the HOA. He has been harrasing me and my geust since I moved in. The person who actually towed my vehicle took about 10 pictures before he towed it and I have copies. I also took alot of pictures after the incedent while my vehicle was still on the lot. There is no question that everything was there. I just dont want a big headache when I try to get my car fixed....

Answer
That is great that they took pictures before they towed it. Was there any damage from forced entry into the vehicle? I would recommend starting with both the HOA and the towing company. The HOA is responsible for having it towed and unfortunately since the vehicle was vandalized at the towing company storage lot they will be responsible also
