Towing Issues: Towing Issue, small claims court, vaccation

Question
We live in a condo with 2 cars, but the condo gives only one reserved parking. Recently, we went on a vaccation, before going we parked one car in reserved space and other in visitor parking space. When we came back, we found our car was missing from the visitor parking space. they towed our car and charged us 640$. When we signed in for the lease, we mentioned we have 2 cars and gave all the details. Please, do advice us as to how to deal with this, as this is a very huge amount for us. we are helpless now.

Answer
Depending on state laws you might be stuck with the whole bill with no recourse...

But the fact that you were assigned only 1 space is very common. After all it is not feasible for the condo complex to supply or have 2 or 3 spaces for each tenant. Remember that vehicle parking spaces take up room which they can sell - lease units on.

Now the fact that the information that the office has, really does not mean much.  Lets say that they decided that your vehicle needed to be moved and it was 2 days after you left on vacation.  They post a notice on the vehicle, knock on your door and all that. You are gone for 10 days, and they tow it because they could not get ahold of you on the 5th day.

How many days notice should you get, or what kind of warnings (which are not really in laws but just a courtesy deal) do you think that is needed...

How long should a "TENANTS VEHICLE" take up a space for a visitor to someone else in the complex?

Lots of issues here and other than you considering the small claims court route, I doubt that you will get anywhere with the management. And Small Claims Court does cost money to file, and time to attend it, with no guarantee that you will win.

I am kind of at a loss of what else to suggest, since I can not provide any specific information on what rules - regulations - laws might of been broken. Lack of state or City information does not help with answering the question.
