Towing Issues: Towing Regulations, tow company, storage yard

Question
I have a vehicle that has been towed and the lien holder is requesting that a condition report or pictures be
provided to them before paying for the release of the vehicle.
But the tow company will not allow it. Are they within  Lake Park FL. State Regulation?

Answer
Well this kind of depends on a few things.

First of all it sounds to me at least as if this vehicle is wrecked and there is no insurance coverage on the vehicle.

Second it sounds like you really have no financial means to repair or remove the vehicle from the tow company storage yard.

Third it kind of sounds like there is a "title loan" (at least to me) on the vehicle and they do not want to pay for "JUNK" as it hurts their bottom line.

Now why do you think that the tow company does not want to allow for someone to come in and look at the vehicle if they have no intention of picking up the vehicle. Tow companies are businesses who are in the business of trying to make a profit (just like every other business) and the vehicle condition is the only bargining chip they have...

You want to come and look at the vehicle and then abandon it in the tow company yard does not fly anymore, and many companies are demanding payment up front of all towing and storage fees before they let people look at or appraise the vehicle.   It is becoming a standard practice at many tow companies across the country.

And yes the State of Florida does have laws which restrict who can access the vehicle and all that. There is even a law which says if you abandon the vehicle at the tow company storage yard and fail to pay the fees or provide the title and workout some arrangement, then your drivers license can be suspended for "non payment of towing fees"

Scary thought....

Work with the tow company and get the issue resolved before it becomes a several thousand dollar issue which has legal implications to resolve.
