Towing Issues: illegal towing, garbage truck, tow company

Question
I parked my truck after it wouldn't start at the back of a big discount chain in Georgia out of public view. I got a verbal permission from management of the store to park but should remove the truck after a certain amount of days as I was waiting for a part to be brought and put on  it. This is a box garbage truck that was empty. I left on a family emergency to NY the very night. I stayed in contact with store management to make sure my truck will be there till my friend brings the part to move it. The last person I spoke to told me he does not know the manager that gave me such approval, but will get back to me after verifying validity of my story. He took my number and promised someone will call me back as soon as he finds the manager that gave me such approval. I didn't get a call from anyone from the store but instead got a call from my friend when he went to put the part on the truck to move it, but truck was gone. Several attempts to find out who authorized the towing proved futile. Every manager on duty at the time said they don't know who authorized it or the name of the tow company that towed the truck. We had to wait till the next day to get the name of tow company, but we weren't given name of individual/store management who authorized the tow. When I eventually called the tow company they would not give me name of authority at store who authorized tow till after I pay for the vehicle. I would like to know if I have a case to sue to recoup my loss. Uptill now I am still not able to get the full name of personnel at store. All of them tell me they don't give out last names. What are my options even though the management told me it was ok to park their upto a certain day which I complied to only to show up but my truck was gone. Also there are no posted warning/towing signs there at all. When I went to pick up the truck[cost me $825]-$325 for towing plus 8 days[@$25 a day]storage, and an additional $65 admin. cost[which i learnt about when i arrived to pick up truck] plus extra $200 to tow it back to the shop where the part should be put on.It also seems the tow company charge two different prices.  Any suggestions for a possible case in Georgia?

Answer
Well I am sure that you know that "VERBAL" does not really mean anything and it's real easy to hide in a large company. I used to work for a company where the owner wore a shirt with "Fred" on it and that was not even close to his name.
That way he could "pass the buck" as not being the owner but just an employee.

Now as to the issue of it being towed. Georgia has specific rules and regulations regarding towing vehicles from private property and the link below will be a great starting point for you to research the issue. You will be able to answer questions that I would be guessing at.

Now as to the rates, well yes the rates are also regulated for the impound tows from the property along with the storage charges. BUT retows from the storage yard to the repair shop will not be regulated.

In fact a lot of time the state sets the rates high and as a rule the business charges less for the services. Typical government issues here, but in this case the rules and regulations can help you in this as it sounds like it was not really a legal impound if there are "NO SIGNS AT ALL" anywhere on the property. Generally they are at the entrances and exits so that is where I would look for them.

As to a case, well it would depend on if you find any rules broke or can prove that someone at the store did something illegal.  Then you might be able to go to Small Claims Count and do that.  I can not tell you if you would win or not, it all depends on the evidence you have and how you present it to the judge and verbal is real hard to prove.

Good luck and I hope that this helps.
