Towing Issues: Dolly Towing, steering wheel lock, tow dolly

Question
QUESTION:   Can I tow my 2006 Mustang Convertible backwards on a tow dolly?  This is after I check the front clearances.  Will I have to do anything besides secure the steering wheel and make sure I have proper lighting?

 Thanks, Jim G.

ANSWER: While I try to avoid answering RV type questions and such, it sounds like you understand what needs to be done when using a tow dolly..

Just make sure the straps and safety chains are tight. steering secured and you have the ground clearance and you should be good to go..

QUESTION:   What is the best way to secure the steering wheel?  Is the seat belt and steering wheel lock enough for 400 miles?

Answer
Do not trust just the steering wheel lock assembly..Its not that strong..

Yes you can wrap the seat belt though the wheel and lock it in place, or you can use a ratchet strap down though the steering wheel and hook it to some seat supports under the seat...

Kind of complicated to explain but I think you might get the idea.

Or there are actual devices which are sold for that reason, but it generally will be something not available local unless you check a tow company supply house in your area...
