Towing Issues: Towed, wheel rotation, lift tow

Question
My car was towed this weekend. I had parked front in with emergency brake on. On my way home an engine alert came on indicating "worn brake pads".  Both front and rear brake pads had been replaced within the last year.  Could this be as a result of the towing?

Answer
Well its really hard to answer this question, specially in the "what if" issue regarding towing...

Now I am going to say that with a lot of vehicles (do not know what kind you have) when vehicles are towed either with flatbeds and or wheel lift tow trucks, that the ABS lights do sometimes come on for a while due to the "mechanics of the system" sensing that some changes happened in the wheel rotation and such.

As to if towing the vehicle caused the "worn brake pad" light, well that generally comes on if the pads have been worn down which means that it would of been "full brakes on" while trying to roll during the tow and that would of also worn down or flat spotted the tires.

I am believing that its just a temporary issue as things readjust after being towed...

Hope this helps, but its kind of out of my area of expertise since it is more a mechanical issue.. The brakes being replaced in the last year, well you might have some issue there which is starting to develop now and just showed up after the towing. I really can not tell....  You can have a mechanic look at them and see if there is anything to this issue.
