Towing Issues: state towing laws, storage fee, storage fees

Question
i got pulled over and got a ticket for no insurance, expired 3 day drivers license and something else.when the dude pulled up, got out and was wondering around the vehicle, the fees were already around 300.00- that was not the towing company that he had called first. he radioed anoher one cause the first was too far away. my question is i asked the company's secretary if i could pay on the fines every 2 weeks when i got paid and every month and she said no cause the state does not allow that. now is that true? i want my car and even went and got insurance back on it. the fees ae already almost 2000 now. how could i ever pay that back? i have no family member or friend that could loan me the money plus i am payday loan tapped out.

Answer
Since I do not know what State you are in, I can not really say what the laws are...

But state law aside, a tow company did perform the tow and is storing the vehicle of which there is a daily storage fee (think ground rental)...

Now it would be generally up to the tow company if they wanted to do a payment plan, but most do not do that... Reason is that people generally would not pay after they got the vehicle back...

Now, I have to say that not everyone would be that way, but you have seen how people treat bank loans, home loans, credit cards and such.

Now, I guess you have tried to talk and reason with the tow company and see if there is anything that could be done, and from the sounds of it they will not work with you...

Again depending on the state you are in, you might be able to go to the auction when they sell your vehicle for any and all towing and storage fees owed and you "might" be able to buy it back that way. But that depends on state law.

I really do not know what to suggest otherwise since you have no other ways to get the money you need.
