Towing Issues: Vehicle totaled in accident, tow yard, storage disposal

Question
I just want to be absolutely clear on what will be my part to take care of.  My truck got in an accident just 2 days ago.  It apparently flipped and rolled over into a storm drain.  I was not the driver, however, my truck is TOTALED.  When i go to the tow yard to claim whatever i can out of my truck, what do i need to bring and exactly what is it i should be paying for?  The impression i got from the tow man was because it was difficult to hitch my truck that I will be charged more and so forth...  I don't want to be a fish with no clue as to what I am responsible for.  Thanks

Answer
This question will be easy if you have full coverage, contact your insurance company and they will handle everything. If you have liability without towing/accident coverage then you will be responsible for the towing, storage, disposal or relocation of the vehicle. If this is the case then get the truck out ASAP because storage occurs daily and adds up fast. You may retrieve any personal items regardless of insurance coverage and must show proof of ownership with your identification. Any other questions feel free to ask.
