Towing Issues: Door Opening, tow operator, tow operators

My car was just towed but my concern was is it legal in the state of NH for them to jimmy the door open? I heard my car alarm going off and looked outside to see them towing my car and my driver side door wide open. I am to believe that they do not have the right to break into the car.

In many cases it is necessary to unlock the vehicle and secure the steering wheel, release the parking brake, or manually shift the vehicle into neutral. Most tow operators are not thieves and not trying to violate your vehicle but these measures do prevent any or possible damage to the vehicle. The tow operator has no right on damaging the vehicle while performing any means necessary for the removal. I'm sure the tow operator was probably just as upset as you were when the alarm started going off! Nothing is worse than a screaming alarm when trying to do your job.
