Towing Issues: Towing a trailor, pop up campers, landscape trailer

Question
I just bought a Jeep Liberty 4X4, 6 speed manual transmission and would like to tow a small trailer. I have never done this before. What speeds can I travel at, and what gears should I use?
Thanks

Answer
Refer to your owner's manual and follow the guides in the towing section. Go to www.trailerlife.com for specs. It varies if you have a factory tow package and your axle gearing. Even if you do have the big tow package, I do not suggest a loaded car trailer or a 16 foot or bigger enclosed trailer but little 4x8,5x10,6x12 open landscape trailer, small pop up campers, small boats are fine as long as you don't exceed 3500 pounds total weight, including the weight of the trailer. If you have the big tow package remember anything over 3500 pounds total weight requires trailer brakes and a brake controller. Any other questions just ask
