Towing Issues: TOW/LIEN FEES, tow yard, paperwork

Question
Is it legal in California for a tow yard to impose any sort of lien fee if my car has only been towed and stored for a period of (4) days? I thought if it was stored for the length of a full 30 days a charge would apply there after...?

Answer
The lien fee is "generally" applied when they start the paperwork required by law to file the lien...

That fee covers the cost of sending the request for information to DMV and also for postage and such for letters required...


I am not sure on the 4 days though but if I remember right they have like 72 hours before they have to start the process...
